Latina Literature - Clap When You Land

In This Episode of the podcast, we consider Elizabeth Acevedo’s 2020 novel in verse, Clap When You Land. We provide a brief background on the author as well as the historical event that inspired parts of this book. 

This is followed by a discussion of the art of storytelling through verse. Then we talk about some of the family relationship dynamics that are addressed in the book, including those between parent and child, and those between siblings. And finally we look at Acevedo's exploration of the theme of neo-colonialism and its relationship to tourism.
